Sleeping Warrior, Ugali, & Ugali Saucer Hills

  • Lake Elementatita
  • 1 Day
  • Duration: 1 Day

Overview

Sleeping Warrior, Ugali, & Ugali Saucer Hills are some of the panoramic hiking arenas in the Rift Valley. Lying at the heart of the Rift Valley, Sleeping Warrior, Ugali, & Ugali Saucer Hills are just off Lake Elementaita. Sleeping Warrior Hill resembles a warrior lying on the ground holding a shield, while Ugali Hill, as you can already imagine, resembles a dish of Kenya’s favorite meal, Ugali.

The hike starts at the shore of the pink lake and then proceeds to Sleeping Warrior, where we take the steep ascent to the peak (Chest of the Warrior). From the peak, we take stock of the beautiful views of the surrounding country, including clear views of the entire Lake Elementaita. We then descend to the other side and then go up Ugali hill. After this, we will aim for the Ugali Saucer for those motivated enough before descending to the finishing point.

The entire trail is approximately 19km, making it doable for everybody. However, you can opt out of Ugali Saucer and finish the hike after Ugali Hill. Let’s have a panorama of the Rift Valley.
