Event Details
Hausberg & Oblong Tarns are twins along the peak circuit of Mount Kenya at Hausberg Valley. Lying past the base of Point Pigott, these twins are a beauty to explore as you see the view of the peaks. If you have been to Emerald, Nanyuki, and Two Tarns, Hausberg and Oblong Tarns are along the same circuit midway to Shipton’s Campsite.
The hike starts at Met Station at 3048m ASL and moves through a thicket region before you hit the Moorlands and the vertical bog towards Teleki Valley. This hike proceeds through the Teleki Valley to Mackinder’s Camp, up through the left ridge to Two Tarn, and farther towards Shipton’s campsite to Hausberg Valley, where the tarns are located.
