Description
Chogoria Ultra Campout is a lighter version of our Chogoria Ultra Upsweep allowing you more hours to attempt the Mount Kenya Day Dash. Our Chogoria Ultra Campout will see you through the most scenic and hydrotherapeutic Mount Kenya Chogoria Route to Point Lenana.
This is the shortest of the ultra series on Mount Kirinyaga but offers a similar challenge. The summit push is a notable challenging section on this climb and requires both mental and physical resilience to conquer.
The Temple is a notable detour on this hike to catch a view of Lake Michaelson before heading for the summit push. Keep working out, then come challenge your resilience. Camp and then start a hike super early to increase your chances of summiting.

Itinerary

Departure & Camp
Meeting point: City Hall Way (Kencom) opposite International House Entrance, CBD.
- 10.00 am: Boarding opens
- 10.20 am: Departure for Mount Kenya Chogoria Gate (The departure time is strict)
- 2.20 pm: Arrival at the Mount Kenya Chogoria Gate and registration
- 4.20 pm: Arrival at Lake Ellis, briefing, dinner & spend the night

Hike Day & Return
- 1.00 am: Rise up & Take Breakfast
- 6.00 am: 1st resilience check. Target is at Mintos Camp
- 10.00 am: 2nd resilience check. Target is at Point Lenana
- 11.00 am: mandatory turn-back time
- 5.00pm: Departure for Nairobi
N/B: The departure time back to Nairobi is subject to the day’s tidings and could be earlier or slightly later than estimated.
