Mount Kenya 2 Days 1 Night Summit – Naro Moru Route is an ultimate summit attempt to hit Mount Kenya’s third-highest peak (Peak Lenana) under 48 hours. Naro Moru is the most scenic route, especially when descending, given the views and the touch of the Lewis Glacier as you go down. The route also combines all sorts of mountain experience and views.
The hike starts at Met Station Bandas and proceeds through the bamboo and montane forest before you hit the vertical bog. Past the vertical bog, the trail diverts to Teleki Valley to a river crossing, past where we will camp for that night at Mackinders Camp.
The second day will see you through a notoriously steep incline towards the Austrian Hut, near the Lewis Glacier, and lastly, the 1km rocky ascent to Point Lenana through the iron cable. From this point, it will be not just the views of the snow. There will also be scenic surroundings, beautiful lakes and tarns, rocks, and peaks, not forgetting the just below Lewis Glacier. Let’s go touch the glacier before global warming takes effect.
