Mount Kenya 2 Days 1 Night Summit – Sirimon Route is an ultimate summit attempt to hit Mount Kenya’s third-highest peak (Peak Lenana) under 48 hours. Sirimon route is the most gentle route, especially when asscending. The route also gives the best distinction of the various high peaks of Kirinyaga combines all sorts of mountain experience and viewsas all the top peaks are clearest from this route.
The hike starts at Old Moses camp and proceeds through the moorlands and past a bog to Mackinder Valley. It then proceeds under the scenery to Shipton’s Camp for the camp on this day.
The second day will see you through a notoriously steep incline towards Point Lenana. From this point, there will also be scenic surroundings, beautiful lakes and tarns, rocks, and peaks, not forgetting the just below Lewis Glacier.

Departure & Hike Day 1: Meet outside International House at 4:15 a.m.
- Depart for Mount Kenya Sirimon Gate at 4:30 a.m.
- Arrive at 9:10 am at Sirimon Gate and register.
- Take lunch and start the hike at 10:00 a.m. to Shipton’s camp (4200m).
- Relax, and have supper.
- Camp for the short night.
- On this day, there will be an elevation gain of 900m.
- The hiking distance is approximately 15km.
Hike Day 2 & Return:
- Wake up to early light breakfast at 1.30 a.m.
- Pack water and lunch.
- Start the day’s ascent to Point Lenana (4,985m) at 2.00 a.m.
- Summit and descend to Shipton’s Camp (4200m) for breakfast.
- Further descend to Old Moses Camp (3300m).
- Wrap-up as we clear with the team handover of belongings.
- Leave for Nairobi.
- There will be an elevation gain of 785m and a loss of 1,685m on this day.
